Jon W. Sanders has spent his career working in investment commercial real estate and founded Ski Town Commercial of Steamboat Springs, CO in 2009. Since then, Ski Town Commercial has grown to be a leader in the trade, morphing into an asset management company improving our built environment through creative, adaptive reuse, entitlements, and development. Jon advises appraisers, developers, investors and landlords. He consults to banks, startups and even troubled asset owners. Creative solutions are considered his real niche.
Jon grew up around the real estate business alongside his family. His passion for real estate goes back to turning over rentals with his parents before he could drive a vehicle legally. The interest continued into college where he studied business and real estate at CU Boulder. Jon also completed the Construction Management Certification program at CSU. By graduation, Jon managed a mix of over 70 residential and commercial units. Commercial investments caught further interest, which led to a move to the Denver area where he learned commercial brokerage in much greater detail.
After moving to Steamboat Springs in 2007, Jon joined a Downtown Development team working on revitalization and development of Downtown; such projects include Howelsen Place, Alpen Glow and the Victoria. Years later, Jon worked to develop projects in downtown Steamboat Springs; including SwedWood on the Yampa River, Corner of 9th and Lincoln, and a workforce housing conversion of the former Alpiner into the Main Street Apartments. He has also been an integral part in adding workforce housing units and changing the corner of Elk River Plaza and US-40 on the West End, bringing on Storm Peak Brewing Co and How Ya Doin’ Pizza. Jon is a past two-year President of the Board of MainStreet Steamboat. He envisions a downtown that better connects to Howelsen Hill and sees the Howelsen Fairgrounds becoming more of town park, a destination for festivals, rodeos and more future Olympians. Jon resides in Downtown Steamboat just off Lincoln Ave with his beautiful family.
